Marnti Warajanga - A Walk Together Travelling Exhibition

Monday, 30 April 2012

Key Dates:

13 April - 7 June (Exhibition touring dates)

Communities in the Pilbara region of Western Australia will have the opportunity to contribute to the exhibition Marnti Warajanga - A Walk Together as it tours across the Pilbara throughout the month of May.

Marnti Warajanga - A Walk Together grew out of a joint project between photographer Tobias Titz and the Wangka Maya Pilbara Aboriginal Language Centre. The exhibition explores several key events in Indigenous history, including the Apology, the 1967 Referendum and the 1946 strike, and reflects on the Indigenous and non-Indigenous voices of this journey.

The exhibition will travel to the Pilbara townships of South Hedland, Warralong, Yandeyarra, Newman and Jigalong, where photography workshops will be held with communities so that individuals can add their own stories to the project.

The exhibition opened on 13 April at Central Park in Perth, and commences travel to the Pilbara on the 1 May. For further information see the Marnti Warajanga website.
