Tuesday, 14 August 2012

Key Dates:

31 August (Image submissions close)

The Rivers of Emotion project is seeking images of Indigenous artworks with links to the Swan River/Derbarl Yerrigan and Canning River/Djarlgarro Beelier for inclusion in a variety of media.

The Rivers of Emotion project will highlight the social values of the Swan River/Derbarl Yerrigan and Canning River/Djarlgarro Beelier, contribute to an international understanding of the cultural landscape, and inform an interpretation plan for the Swan Canning Riverpark. There will also be an associated Rivers Symposium.

The University of Western Australia and the National Trust will include digital copies of selected submitted artworks in one or all of the following.

1.    A montage of images at the Symposium  24 Oct
2.    A publication produced by UWA (1000 copies)
3.    A website in which images of paintings would appear at an appropriate location on a River map.

Unfortunately there is no funding available for artists who wish to contribute to this project. It will, however, be an opportunity for exposure of artworks in a new approach to understanding the Swan River/Derbarl Yerrigan and Canning River/Djarlgarro Beelier. For further information contact Gina Pickering at the National Trust on (08) 9321 6088 or by email gina.pickering@ntwa.com.au.
