The Mid West Art Prize Exhibition 2012

The results of the Mid West Art Prize for 2012 are now exhibiting at the Geraldton Regional Art Gallery.

Currently in its second year, the Mid West Art Prize Exhibition opening  for 2012 was attended by 275 people, including artists from around the State.

The prize, $45 000 in non acquisitive awards, attracted 330 entries, 76 of which made it through to the final display. This year's selection was judged by Fremantle Arts Centre Curator, Dr Ric Spencer and IASKA CEO and Artistic Director, Marco Marcon.

The 2012  Mid West Aboriginal Award went to Margaret Danischewsky for her series of woven baskets titled, 'From Beach to Bush', and the 2012 CGG Award for Excellence went to Indigenous artist Biddy Timbinah for her entry, 'My Father's Country', an exploration of the artist's heritage and Country in the North West of WA.

The exhibition runs till Sunday 27 May 2012.
