“Chosen” Cultural Apprenticeships or Residencies: New Funds are Available for Elders and Master Artists to Mentor Emerging Artists

Thursday, 22 November 2012

Key Dates:

12 December (Applications close)

"Chosen" allows Indigenous communities to take control and plan for how they will nurture early career people from their community/sector in the arts and/or culture.

This is an opportunity for Indigenous communities, elders and arts sectors to identify in which areas young people and emerging artists need to be skilled up and to do so. This could be younger people undertaking apprenticeships or residencies with senior bosses, leaders and practitioners in cultural expression.

The goal is to have the best experts as mentors bring up the select, promising, early career artists, building the artists' promise to the future.

Investments will be within the range of $10,000-$20,000 over 18 months.

The Board is calling for cultural leaders, sector experts and established artists to identify and support early career talents through building capacities, engaging them with their sector, disciplines and culture.

For  further information, and to apply online, see the  "Chosen" page of the Australia Council website.
