ARTIST EOI | Perth Stadium Artwork Opportunity

Monday, 29 June 2015

Key Dates:

Artists (or artist teams) are invited to submit an EOI by: 5:00pm (WST) Monday 20 July 2015

A number of different permanent artworks will be featured across the new Perth Stadium and Sports Precinct when it opens in early 2018. Local, national and international artists are invited to register their interest for the first of four opportunities that will be released during 2015.

The first commission is located in the north of the Sports Precinct, alongside the Swan River-fed lake.  It will be a permanent Land Art installation and integrated into the landscape design, encouraging visitors of all ages to explore its different forms.

For this first opportunity, short listed artists will collaborate with landscape architects to develop their concepts.  This will ensure that their designs are fully integrated, creating a seamless experience for fans.

Under the WA State Government's Percent for Art Scheme, $2 million has been allocated to Public Art in the Stadium and Sports Precinct. The selected artworks will celebrate Western Australia's culture, landscape, history and community while responding to the curatorial themes of people, land and sport.

The artist or artists commissioned for this first opportunity are expected to be appointed by the end of 2015 and the other three artwork opportunities will be released in the following months.
