Friday, 28 April 2017

Key Dates:

Applications close: Tuesday 06 June 2017

The Indigenous Arts Leadership program provides an opportunity for up to 10 Indigenous Australians to travel to the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra and learn about the visual arts and museum sector over 10 days.

In 2009, the National Gallery of Australia and Wesfarmers
Limited established the Wesfarmers Arts Indigenous Leadership &
Fellowship program to address the relatively small percentage of
Indigenous professionals participating in the visual arts
sector.

The aim of the Leadership program is to build and connect
people, working in Country and at the National Gallery of
Australia, and to promote and share knowledge and experiences to
strengthen work practices and provide professional support.

To be eligible to apply for the Indigenous Arts Leadership
program, you must:

• identify and be accepted in the community as an Australian
Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander

• be over 18 years old

• be able to travel to and stay in Canberra for 12 days from

• 28 August – 6 September 2017 (plus extra for travel days)

• have a strong interest in the visual arts and career
aspirations in the arts sector

• agree to attend all program sessions

• be willing to be photographed and interviewed to further
promote the program in ongoing marketing campaigns.
