$25,000 MANDORLA ART AWARD 2016 | Call for Entries

Venue: Linton & Kay Galleries, Level 1, 137 St Georges Terrace, Perth WA

Entry to The Mandorla Art Award 2016 is open to Australian citizens or permanent residents aged over 18. Entrants must be residing primarily in Australia.

The Mandorla Art Award employs a thematic spiritual inspiration
that changes with each exhibition. These inspirations are defined
by quotations from the Bible and all participating artists are
required to interpret these in their own way.

Submissions for the Mandorla Art Award 2016 must clearly
demonstrate a direct relationship to the theme, and the theme for
2016 is “The Resurrection”.

Pre-Selection Process

The selection of the finalists to be exhibited in the Mandorla
Art Award exhibition will be carried out by three appointed panel
members. They will determine the finalists by viewing the digital
images of the finished work submitted by the artists.

The criteria for selection of works to exhibit include:

  • Response – to the theme
  • Impact – visual and aesthetic, or including an
    anti-aesthetic
  • Creativity – ‘readings’ within a
    contextual/conceptual/technical/interpretive framework
  • Technical skills – selection and application of media
  • Compliance – with Terms and Conditions of entry

Judging & Prizes

Judging of the finalists will be conducted by an independent
panel of judges on Friday 15 July 2016. The three appointed judges
will select one First Prize winner for the $25,000 Mandorla Art
Award. The winning artwork will automatically be acquired for the
Mandorla Art Collection.

The judges will select two Highly Commended
non-acquisitive Award winners for the Mandorla Art Award 2016 to
receive $5000 each.

The People’s Choice Award will be determined by visitors’ votes
at the conclusion of the exhibition at Linton & Kay Galleries.
The winner of the People’s Choice Award will be announced at the
opening of the touring selection at New Norcia Museum and Art
Gallery and awarded a $2000 prize.
