Is this your dream job for 2017? Papulankutja Artists are seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual to help them take their art centre to the next level.

Papulankutja Artists is a leading Aboriginal owned and governed
art centre located in the Ngaanyatjarra Lands of
WA. There are 60 artists at Papulankutja and 20 artists
at Jameson working for Papulankutja Artists.

The artists and directors are now seeking a highly capable and
motivated arts professional who can balance the demands of a
high-energy studio, a busy enterprise and national networks. This
is a leadership role, requiring enthusiasm, negotiation skills and
adaptability.

The new manager will need finely developed aesthetic
skills and hands-on studio experience.  The manager will have
the skills to promote Papulankutja Artists through a robust
exhibition program. This dynamic, fast paced and multi-faceted role
will see you working with talented artists from the Western Desert,
delivering a broad range of projects to cater for different artist
demographics.

This role requires excellent interpersonal skills, a
capacity to work effectively across cultures, and a genuine
commitment to Aboriginal self-determination. Strong management and
analytical skills are essential for ensuring effective operations.
The manager will work closely with the Board of Directors to
support excellence in art-making, business management and
community-focused programs and further enhance the reputation of
Papulankutja Artists.

To succeed in this position, the successful applicant must
evidence the ability to work in a cross-cultural environment.
Previous experience in a similar role will be highly regarded. The
salary package is a range of $60,000 – $70,000 per annum (cash
component). In addition other competitive allowance and
entitlements are also offered and will be discussed with the
successful candidate.

Desart is the non-profit peak industry body for over forty
Central Australian Aboriginal Art Centres and the Papulankutja
Artists Board of Directors has engaged Desart assist them in the
recruitment of their new Art Centre Manager.
