Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

Term: 12 month fixed-term contract

Base Salary: $72,000-$83,000 per year + salary packaging

About us  

The Aboriginal Art Centre Hub of Western Australia (AACHWA) advocates on behalf of its member art centres located in regional and remote Western Australia. AACHWA delivers professional development programs for managers, boards, and artists; provides recruitment advice and services; and acts as an advocate to, and central point of contact for, Regional, State and Federal funding bodies. 

The Project: Make it Real: 

Make It Real is a social impact project designed to disrupt the existing fake Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander souvenir and merchandise market, ensuring the participation of Western Australia’s remote and regional Aboriginal arts centres in the development of authentic products. 

The scale of this economic opportunity has led to the misappropriation and misrepresentation within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts and crafts industry. The growing presence of inauthentic Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander “style” art and craft products and merchandise for sale across Australia, demonstrates the exploitation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture for financial gain by non-Aboriginal people.

About the role:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and organised Project Coordinator to support the delivery of projects and capability programs. The ideal candidate will coordinate project activities, monitor progress, and assist with documentation and reporting to ensure efficient execution. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong understanding of project management fundamentals who is eager to advance their career in a dynamic environment.

Key functions of the role will include:  

  • Undertake project management activities including the planning, documenting and implementing of the project, monitoring and reporting on progress and project milestones, and proactively identifying solutions.
  • Undertake procurement and contract management activities including financial administration, budget preparation and monitoring as necessary.
  • Preparing project status reports
  • Reviewing project outcomes and ensuring lessons learned to inform process improvements
  • Maintain and update documents, organise meetings, manage timelines, and assist with internal and external correspondence.
  • Track project progress using project management tools , liaise with vendors and stakeholders, and ensure timely task completion.
  • Identify potential project risks and support mitigation plans 
  • Assist the Project Manager in customer and stakeholder engagement 

Who are we looking for? 

Essential Criteria:

  • 3-5 years’ experience within a project management coordination role.
  • Qualifications in related technical and/or project management field
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, relationship and communications skills
  • Strong organisational and coordination skills

Desirable Criteria: 

  • Aboriginality will be highly regarded but is not essential for this role. 
  • Curiosity and care of the Indigenous merchandise Industry 
  • Knowledge of WA Art Centre industry and SAM (Stories, Art, Money) 
  • Retail, Sales and Product development exposure or experience

Other Requirements:

  • Must be an Australian Citizen / Permanent Resident.
  • COVID 19 Vaccination.
  • Hold Valid Australian work rights.
  • National Police Clearance.
