Join the journey to creating the incredible as our Gallery Officer – Martumili (Casual). In this position you will be responsible to deliver high quality services to Martu artists, customers, and key stakeholders and contribute to the effective operations of the enterprise.

About the Role:
Guided by the vision of Martumili Artists and under the management of the Martumili Manager and the supervision of the Coordinator, the Martumili Gallery Officer will deliver high quality services to Martu artists, customers, and key stakeholders and contribute to the effective operations of the enterprise.
Role Accountabilities
Art and Cultural Services
- Support the Coordinator in the operations of the Martumili Gallery and its associated public programs, collection and activities for the benefit of residence and visitors
- Assist with installation and maintenance in the Gallery
- Encourage Aboriginal training, mentoring and employment as required
- Respect and support Martu culture
- Stretching of finished works and cutting of frames
- Assist with stock room maintenance, stock takes and archiving
Operational and administrative support
- Work with the finance officer to assist with artist payments, SAM exports and stock control
- Ensure that sales are properly receipted through the SAM data base system
- Compliance with copyright and intellectual property laws and protocols
- Assist with the overall administration of Martumili Artists
- In liaison with the coordinator assist with maintaining corporate history folders including exhibitions, events and media
- Perform other duties as required by the manager and coordinator within the classification level and scope of the position when required
- Assist with merchandise ordering, stocktakes and maintenance
- Assist with packing for markets and other events
Customer Service
- Assist with high quality service to customers at Martumili Gallery including gallery tours when needed
- Assist with sales and customer transactions in the SAM data base
- Assist with local sales and transactions including payments and documentation using the SAM database.
- Assist with packing, freight and dispatch of sold works
- Assist with internet and email sales
Governance
- Implement art centre policy, as set by the Martumili Artists’ Steering Committee
- Support and practice good governance
- Maintain cooperative relationships with artists, staff, community and agency stakeholders
About You:
- Experience in the arts or cultural sector (or comparable studies)
- Customer service experience
- Proven cross-cultural communication
- A current Working With Children Check or ability to obtain
- Current WA ‘C’ class driver’s licence
