Sunday 2 November
Spinifex Hill Studio, South Hedland
FREE EVENT
Aboriginal Art Centre Showcase | 2 – 5pm
Hear from Aboriginal art centres and artists from across regional and remote Western Australia and discover the exciting new initiatives taking place across communities.
Art centres are among the biggest innovators in the state – engaging and empowering their communities and providing a hub for all ages where Aboriginal art is made and cultural knowledge and practices continue.
The afternoon’s conversations will spotlight the power of intergenerational knowledge sharing and are an opportunity to celebrate First Nations culture and draw inspiration for the future.
Spinifex Sundowner | 5 – 7:30pm
Celebrate a week of conversations and knowledge sharing as we welcome the WA Aboriginal art centre and Hedland communities for an evening of local live music, art and activities, and a free sausage sizzle. This is a family friendly event and a great chance to explore your local art centre – Spinifex Hill Studio and their latest exhibition, In Our Hands: Vision. Legacy. Strength.
Family friendly, alcohol free event
This event is presented by AACHWA – the peak body and resource agency for art centres in the state – and concludes our annual industry gathering, Our Business: Aboriginal Art Centre Forum, held in a different regional location each year.
Our Business: Aboriginal Art Centre Forum 2025 is proudly funded by the WA Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport (CITS) through the Regional Arts and Cultural Investment Program (RACIP) and the Australian Government’s Indigenous Visual Arts Support program.
The forum is also supported by community partners BHP, Pilbara Ports, Town of Port Hedland and Horizon Power; program partners Spinifex Hill Studio, North Regional TAFE, Art on the Move, Creative Australia, Indigenous Art Code, Copyright Agency and Desart (SAM); and accommodation partner Gateway Village.
