AACHWA x Lawson Flats Exhibition Program 2024

Project Overview

AACHWA is collaborating with Lawson Flats in 2024 to take over their Lawson Gallery and deliver a series of four exhibitions, each spotlighting a different art centre.

Located in Boorloo, the heart of Whadjuk Noongar Boodjar, Lawson Flats have a thriving community of art loving members and are actively fostering a new generation of collectors in WA. Lawson Gallery hosts exhibitions, installations and events year-round and is open to Lawson Flats members and the public.

Through AACHWA’s Our Country Moves State-wide Arts and Business Capacity Building Project, this exhibition series will be a great opportunity for WA Art Centres to showcase their art and culture, create connections in Perth, build relationships with new engaged audiences and sell artwork through a risk-free and cost-effective approach.

Selection Process

AACHWA is calling for Expressions of Interest to identify four arts centres for this exhibition program. All submitted Expressions of Interest will be reviewed by a Selection Panel consisting of an AACHWA Staff Member; an Art Centre Representative; and an Industry Representative.  

Successful participants will be required to commit to the outlined Project Contributions. This exhibition series offers a free Perth based exhibition space, with sales opportunity for Art Centres with no commission on sales. Therefore, all artworks featured in the exhibition must be available for sale during the exhibition period. Art Centres will be responsible for managing the sale of artworks.

Curatorial Themes

Applicants are asked to respond to one of the following Our Country Moves curatorial themes:

1. ‘Living Water’
2. ‘Family and Home’
3. ‘Knowing and Sharing Country’

• WA Aboriginal Art Centres are invited to submit an Expression of Interest for consideration for this exhibition program.
