45 Artists Engaged
13 Art Centres
Facilitated by Jacky Cheng
In October AACHWA was excited to host the first arts worker training workshop at the Our Business Forum in Goomburup (Bunbury). Facilitated by Jacky Cheng, a group of 45 artists took part in a hands-on studio session across two days within the forum program.
The workshop was designed to strengthen artists and arts workers’ understanding of general studio skills from different mediums to colour theory, canvas stretching and general studio processes.
When it came to colour theory, artists were asked to mix warm and cool primary colours to achieve vibrant secondary or complementary colours. This process also saw artists tinting and lightening hues using white paint while discussing how many colour variations are possible with a limited colour palette. The workshop finished off with priming, stretching and preparing artworks for transit.
Our Country Moves aims to strengthen the network of art centres across WA with targeted support across management, governance, training and creating new employment opportunities through art centres and art making.
