Part 1: 37 Artists Engaged
Part 2: 4 Artists Engaged
Facilitated by Tanya Lee and supported by Carly Day and Francis Ferandez
The AACHWA team spent a hands-on week with Bidyadanga Artists in collaboration with the La Grange School, the Community Men’s Shed and the Women’s Resource Centre. Across the week the group partook in a ceramics re-introduction workshop facilitated by Tanya Lee from the North Regional TAFE.
Across the week the group made up of a total of 41 artists focused on building and refining their foundational ceramic skills from stretching to piercing, slumping and carving. The group of artists included three generations of family members.
Over the course of the workshop the artists worked with a range of organisations which provided a holistic creative experience in an effort to re-introduce the creative practice back into the community. In doing so, a select group of artists were trained to operate the kiln at La Grange School.
We were lucky to have Tanya Lee demonstrate kiln fundamentals, operating the kiln and best-practice techniques when using it to fire ceramic artworks in the future.
Our Country Moves aims to strengthen the network of art centres across WA with targeted support across management, governance, training and creating new employment opportunities through art centres and art making.
